Ah, hi there!
As I said, I'm a 39 year old physics graduate working in IT support with a hobby for doing computer animation. I got in to CGI... oh, about 10 years ago, I think. I found out about a free program called Blender while I used to go on TheForce.net's fanfilms forums. It started with just moving other people's models around and it evolved in to this! I use Blender for the real meat of the animation. When I need audio manipulation, I use Goldwave. As for video editing, that's Adobe After Effects CS3. Oh, and 2D image manipulation (for textures and such) is GIMP. If you're interested in CGI, I strongly recommend getting Blender. It's a very exciting time with some of the advances they're developing. The new Cycles render engine is capable of some incredible realism with very little effort. As you will have guessed, Daltana is my online alias. But considering it was just random sounds I tied together (originally for a character on Knights of the Old republic!), it's alarming that there are others out there, including the guy who stole it on Twitter! I only really have one other alias of "Beraton". This happens to also be some kind of studio and a town in Spain. At least my online aliases are less common than my real name, which has a truly boggling number of results on Facebook! If you want to get in touch, you can get hold of me by emailing ben(at)daltana(dot)com! |
